Description
HIPS 1,75 mm/ 1KG (High Impact Polystyrene) is a soluble fiber that is often used as a carrier material. It works as a great backing material because it can be easily removed with a Limonene solution and leaves behind the clean, high-quality print you want. For good results, you must press at a temperature of 220-250°C, and the press table should be heated to 70-110°C. Please note that the range of printing temperatures may vary slightly depending on the use of other printers.
HIPS, a copolymer that combines the hardness of polystyrene and the elasticity of rubber, is usually found in protective packaging and flexible containers. In the 3D world, HIPS usually plays the same role as ordinary filaments such as PLA, PETG, ASA filaments, etc. 3D printers cannot print thin air - that's where supporting structures come in handy. Usually what overflows under pressure requires some basic structure, but this is where HIPS really comes in.
You can pair HIPS with another fiber in a double extrusion press and achieve great results because HIPS does its job as an excellent support material. It works as a great support material because it is easily removed with Limonene solution and leaves behind the high-quality 3D print you want.
The best way to use HIPS is to pair it with ABS. HIPS is ideal for pressing the same as ABS, because it has the same level of strength and stiffness, but also because ABS needs to be pressed at the same temperature. It is important to remember that limonén damages other materials of the 3D printer fiber, therefore the most beautiful combination is ABS.
What's also great about it is that it doesn't require any cutting, scraping or any other method of removal that could damage your print. For good results, you must press at a temperature of 220-250°C, and the press table should be heated to 70-110°C. Please note that the range of printing temperatures may vary slightly depending on the use of other printers.
✔️Can be used as support material and strong filament of 3D printer
❌Requires subsequent processing to remove supports, compatible only with ABS
