Description

ABS is probably the most popular injection molding material, so you can find it everywhere; from evil instruments, pipe systems, keyboard keys, Lego, household appliances to computer monitors.

ABS filament was one of the first 3D materials used in industrial 3D printers. Many years later, ABS is still a very popular 3D fiber due to its low price and good mechanical properties. This fiber is known for its toughness and impact resistance, it is also a durable and reliable material. One of its advantages is thermal stability and better flexibility than PLA.

ABS filament is a polymer soluble in acetone, but therefore it can be welded with acetone or cooled with steam. As already mentioned, it is very tough - which means it is already able to withstand high stress and temperature. These properties make ABS an excellent filament for 3D printing, especially for 3D printed products that are often handled, dropped or heated, such as phone cases, tool handles, automotive trim components and electrical covers. A 3D printed object made with our ABS coil can withstand up to 85°C, making ABS an excellent choice for outdoor or high-temperature applications.

If you are starting to print with ABS, be sure to use an open space with good ventilation, because the material has a tendency to clog slightly. ABS filament also has a tendency to shrink quite a bit when it cools down, so we recommend using a 3D printer with a cover to control the temperature of the environment in which the filament is printed.

Recommended temperature: 230 – 260 °C
