Description

Russian artillery soldiers from World War II and the ZIS 3 cannon – an overview

Russian Artillery Soldiers from World War II and the ZIS 3 Cannon is a highly detailed 3D resin model for collectors and diorama makers. The theme captures the legendary ZIS 3 (M1942) field/division cannon in action along with the operator - commander with optics, gunner at the bolt mechanism and loader ready to feed another round. Each part is printed using precise SLA technology from UV resin, thanks to which the model has smooth surfaces, sharp edges and legible details. The product is delivered unpainted and unassembled so that you can enjoy the entire creative process of building, painting and patina.

Russian World War II artillery soldiers and the ZIS 3 cannon – what exactly are you buying?

The model is available as a flexible assembly: a complete set (ZIS 3 cannon + 3 operator figures), or individual items according to the needs of your scene. You can choose just the ZIS 3 cannon, just the crew, or individual figures (commander, gunner, loader). Thanks to this, you can easily supplement an existing diorama or build a completely new composition - a field position with sandbags, a muddy forest edge or city ruins.

Variants and scales (1:16 and 1:35)
We offer two targeted scales in which we achieve the best detail. The 1:35 scale is ideal for classic static modeling with wide compatibility of WW2 accessories. The 1:16 scale allows the rework of faces, uniforms, belts and rivets on the cannon shield to fully stand out. In both scales, we pay attention to the exact proportions of the carriage, shield, wheels and control mechanisms, so that the Russian artillery soldiers from World War II and the ZIS 3 cannon look realistic from every angle.

Why choose SLA resin for WW2 dioramas
SLA printing with a layer thickness of approximately 0,05–0,1 mm preserves the smooth transitions and sharp edges that are crucial for guns and equipment. UV resin holds acrylic paints, oil washes, pigments and varnishes perfectly. The result is a clean base for techniques such as pre-shading, dry brushing or fine metal rubbing. Compared to regular castings, you get significantly sharper detail without visible molding lines.

Recommended painting and gluing procedure
After unpacking, gently degrease the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Apply a primer intended for resin - it will unify the surface and reveal areas for possible cleaning. It is ideal to spray the base colors with an airbrush; finish painting the straps, buckles, hubs and small controls with a brush. Use CA instant glue for gluing, fill the micro-joints with a fine putty. For a realistic patina, a combination of wash, dry brush and pigments will work well - dust on the wheel rims, fine abrasions on the edges of the shield, soot around the muzzle of the barrel. In 1:16 scale, you can use more pronounced shading of the faces and hands; in 1:35 scale, choose more subtle contrasts so that the model does not seem exaggerated.

Safety when working with resin
Fine dust is generated during cutting and grinding - work in a ventilated area and wear a respirator. Do not store parts in direct sunlight; long-term UV radiation can affect the shade of the material. This is a model product, not a toy, recommended age is 10+. After completion, we recommend a protective varnish for a longer life of the surface finish.

Historical neutrality and scenery ideas
The motif is neutral and serves exclusively for modeling purposes; it is not about promoting ideology. The ZIS 3 cannon was deployed on many fronts, so you can create a variety of scenes - a winter position with snow, a summer dirt road with dust, and even city ruins. The figures have natural poses that "communicate" with each other: the commander shows the direction, the gunner operates the mechanism, the loader holds a grenade ready to be inserted into the chamber. The Russian artillery soldiers from World War II and the ZIS 3 cannon thus appear dynamic and believable.
