German Drivers – Set Presentation

German Drivers is a practical collection of six realistic drivers designed for German military vehicles from World War II. Each figure sits in a natural position with hands ready to grip the steering wheel and legs adjusted to fit well in common cabs and cockpits. The set includes a mix of headgear and clothing - field cap, side cap, helmet and officer's cap, including one figure in a longer coat. Smooth surfaces and fine details (straps, buttons, folds of fabric, shoe laces) make painting and patina easy.

Why SLA resin and what do you get?

We print with technology SLA from UV resin with a layer thickness of approximately 0,05–0,1 mm. The result is clean surfaces without disturbing molding lines and excellent readability of details – ideal for precise painting. Resin accepts excellently resin primers, acrylics, washes, dry brush and pigments. Compared to classic plastics, you will save time on sanding and get sharper detail on faces, hands and accessories.

Package contents and purchase options

- Set (6 pcs) – a complete set of all six drivers.
- Individual figures – you choose exactly the pose/headwear you need.
The parts are in light gray color, supplied unpainted and incomplete. You will use the steering wheel from the car model; the characters' hands are ready to grab and, if necessary, move them short heating (warm water/hair dryer on low heat) you can gently adjust the angle of the specific steering wheel.

Scales and compatibility (1:35 and 1:16)

- 1:35 – the standard of static modeling with wide compatibility of WW2 accessories.
- 1:16 – collector's scale with space for shading skin and fabric textures.
The figures have generally valid proportions to fit into most passenger car, truck, semi-track or self-propelled vehicle cabins. For narrower cockpits, we recommend trying the fit "dry" and possibly adjusting the angle of the forearms.

Description of the characters in the photo (from left to right)

  1. Officer with a cap (Schirmmütze), neutral posture – sitting straight, hands holding the steering wheel at "10 and 2", tunic to the waist, riding boots.

  2. Soldier in M43 field cap, camouflage/field blouse – soft hat with a short peak, relaxed fit, arms closer together; suitable for off-road vehicles.

  3. Soldier with a side cap (Schiffchen) – plain cap without peak, clean field blouse, hands parallel to the steering wheel; universal “rank and file driver”.

  4. Officer with a cap (Schirmmütze), relaxed posture – slight forward lean, left hand lower on the steering wheel, right elbow closer to the body; good for a sedan/staff car.

  5. Soldier in a long cloak (Mantel) – distinctive knee-length coat, heavier pleats, fit suitable for winter/autumn scenes.

  6. Soldier with helmet (Stahlhelm M35/40) – classic steel helmet, firm seat, hands spread apart on the steering wheel; ideal for a truck or semi-trailer.

Recommended preparation and painting procedure

  1. Parts in brief degrease in lukewarm soapy water and let dry.

  2. Send resin primer – unifies the surface and shows areas for minor cleaning.

  3. Try dry in the cabin; if necessary, adjust your hands to the angle of the steering wheel after warming them up slightly.

  4. Spray the base airbrush; belts, buckles, laces and patches are hand-painted with a brush.

  5. Lep CA (super glue); fill micro-gaps with sealant.

  6. Patina: wash into the seams, dry brush on the edges and pigments (dust/mud) on shoes and trouser legs. At 1:16 use soft skin shading and a final matte/satin varnish; at 1:35 choose more subtle contrasts.

Ideas for dioramas and composition

In urban scenes, add scuffs on knees and dust on boots; in country roads, warm clay pigments; in winter scenes, cool shading and soft “snow” drybrushing. For a more lively scene, have one driver “communicate” with another character – looking in the rearview mirror, pointing directions, or leaning toward a passenger with a map. Small accessories (a water bottle, documents, a coat thrown over his head) will greatly increase authenticity.

Safety and recommended age

Cutting and sanding resin creates fine dust – work in a ventilated area and use respirator. Do not store parts in direct sunlight; long-term UV may change the shade. The product is a modeling material. Recommended age: 10+, when gluing, grinding and working with chemicals with adult supervision. We recommend a protective varnish after finishing.
